Fitness Success Stories
Recruit Clint Goyette(33). "Since I have started working out on a regular basis I have found that I have more energy to play with my kids."
What would you say to someone who thinks that running after their kids is more than enough exercise? This is a common excuse that parents have and understandably so. When my kids are “on fire” I feel like I use tons of energy to deal with it. What I tend to forget is that the energy I feel I am spending is most likely mental energy and not physical. The problem is that kids keep you on the move mentally and physically to a point, but that doesn’t build strength or cardio. Even the busiest of kids won’t get you up to 80% of your maximum heart rate!
Where does keeping fit tie into the other successes of life?. I used to work out all the time until I had a family, a job and a business ....and felt like I had no energy to do activities outside of work. But I started to feel like something was missing even though I had all of the things that most people would view as success. I realized I had no energy and I was out of shape. Success for me is to have health as well. I want to be able be very active with my kids when they are teenagers. I want the ability to give them an active lifestyle and know that if I keep up with the active lifestyle I currently have, I will have success. Waking up and seeing a toned body in the mirror makes me feel much better than when all I saw before was an out of shape Dad.
