Fitness Success Stories

Recruit Leanne Rodgers (47) “getting outside to workout feels like an adventure, and starting the day doing something I feel good about, makes the rest of my day better.”

Leanne RodgersWhat is your ‘success story’ since committing to consistent workouts? I have become a higher achiever. The first year I started exercising consistently, I became the top sales person in my company. I have a greater balance in my life now since my health is not shortchanged. By fitting my workouts in first thing in the morning, I find more time in the evening for reading and/or taking courses.

I found the strength, energy, and confidence to try new sports such as surfing - I don’t know if I would have pursued this sport if I wasn’t as healthy and strong as I am. My skiing and skate-skiing are stronger, I hit the golf ball much further, and I ride my mountain bike up the logging roads and uphill trails faster than I did before. I have a greater sense of confidence and can handle the stresses of everyday life better – giving more to my family and work.

How do you find the will power? To make myself more accountable to workout: (1) I signed up and prepaid for a years membership at The Original Boot Camp. For me, first thing in the morning is best because there is nothing else in my schedule that could interfere. (2) I think of my workouts as an appointment with my health, and treat this appointment like any other appointment in my day timer. (3)When it feels hard to get up in the morning I just think- get up, go, get it done in an hour! I remind myself that if I get my workout done, I will have a sense of accomplishment after one hour, as opposed to feeling guilty and stressed for the rest of the day.
