5 Ways You Benefit From Athlete Management

Working with beginner exercisers is my niche market, and I’ve worked hard to gain the certifications relating to this field. My passion is in planning, organizing, leading and coaching boot campers to optimize performance. I hold a Diploma in Sport Management from Massey University in NZ, a two year study. I'm also a former professional athlete (12 years pro).

Athlete management is part of Cat Smiley Boot Camp, my solely independent program. Similar to being an elite athlete, you’ll have one dedicated personal coach and ‘athlete manager’ to take care of every part of your shape up process. This is what all the top athletes in the world have to achieve the pinnacle of their success – and you can too!

Like any great project, a manager is essential. Someone to oversee every aspect of your experience, because doing it all yourself no longer works. Yet it’s hard to let go. I get it. It’s hard to figure out the difference between a coach, a business owner and an athlete manager. What the heck is that anyway, you ask. You’re not a professional athlete, so why do you need it?

Simply put: coaches are there to coach you through a program that your trainer developed. When you start a new phase of training, they’ll coach you through that. Finding an all-in-one leader to take the overwhelm out of putting the pieces together…. It seems impossible to have just one person.

What is athlete management?

My role in sports management is helpful when mistakes start getting made, and miscommunications begin to happen between experts guiding your journey. With an all-in-one expert, myself, our time together is optimal. In a nutshell, ‘athlete management’ is assigning one qualified professional to lead your experience. This means that there’s no fixing of others errors, or updating your last session notes to a new professional. No repeating of tasks or trying to do everything yourself.

Athlete management provides boot campers the opportunity to focus on their food, exercise and mindset : instead of the decisions. You can sit back and let me take you on the experience. I’ll focus on the fundamentals so that you don’t have to. Staying on top of your progress (and safety) is my number one priority.

I studied Sports Management at Massey University, specifically tailoring my skills to work a variety of roles. These included nutrition, fitness rehabilitation, conditioning drills, coaching and full-scale programming. Athlete management is about organization of all areas of my clients life. Fast-forward 25 years of career experience and a host of additional coaching qualifications, my services provide the deepest knowledge.

Your coach should be your teacher, mentor and protector of your health and integrity. The quality of the relationship between a coach and the athlete has a crucial effect on the athlete’s satisfaction, motivation and performance. The best coach is someone who can help you be the best you can be. – Olympic.org

How it works at Cat Smiley Boot Camp

All weight loss camp guests participate in conditioning activities and fitness related workshops throughout the day. This is typically 5 hours per day, including drive time and breaks.

January and February sessions typically run noon to 5pm, so we can make the most of the afternoon warmer temperatures. It gets dark around 3.30pm, so we do living room workouts, workshops and food management to complete the remaining exercise quota. These two months, Cat Smiley Boot Camp has only two participants in session.

Each fitness camp is modified to the level of ability – designed for what is safest and best for them. We’re a unique weight loss boot camp program that’s like having a live-in personal trainer with you, five days a week! I’m with you every day from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll experience customized workouts to replace old habits and develop new ones. We’ll get you to your weight loss goal, and sustain it for years to come.
