THE PREMIUM

‘The Premium’ is Whistler Fitness Vacations original retreat, the format that we’ve operated for 11+ years. It’s multi-sport (hiking, biking, kayaking, fitness classes and workshops) with hands-on coaching throughout your stay, in every element of your fitness, health and wellness experience. It includes lodging at The Westin Resort and Spa, and group fitness/lifestyle coaching with optional weight loss focus.

THE INDEPENDENT

‘The Independent’ is Whistler Fitness Vacations newest retreat experience, launching this year as a pilot. Choose from multi-sport, just hiking or just biking. It’s intended to be especially beneficial for guests; staying 5-16 weeks, with goals to lose significant weight, who own a vacation home in Whistler, traveling with children in summer sports camps or who cannot ride a bicycle. We’ve also had guests who want the option to upgrade their wellness retreat experience with personal coaching and another hotel – such as the Four Seasons, which is an easy walk from our daily meeting place.

    Hiking Through Old Growth Forests
    Discover the inspiring forest nature trails at a brisk, athletic pace, led by an experienced personal trainer. Whistler Fitness Vacations is different from a hiking company because all the activities are designed to keep you in the training zone. You'll get a great workout in while exploring forested valleys, rivers and lakes.

    Kayaking A Glacial Lake
    Kayaking a glacial lake beneath two impressive mountains is truly a bucket list experience! With water fresh from the mountains, the colours of the water changes daily each time taking your breath away. You'll be briefed by a qualified kayaking instructor and in your own single kayak independently paddling on the lake.

    Guided Healthy Adventures
    Pop-up fitness training throughout your trip, including anything and everything from sports stretching, strength training, athletic conditioning, learn to run. Daily accountability to meet daily fitness targets, carefully customized for you. Everyone is provided opportunity to follow The Planet Friendly Diet.

    Biking In Paradise
    Rediscover the magic of biking around discovering "cool" places like you might have done as a kid with your friends after school. Rental cruiser bikes (and helmets) are included in your stay and our guided cardio adventures will keep your heart rate up! Whistler has over 40 kms of car-free paved trails, winding around lakes, forests, parks and golf courses.

Activities

What’s Included

We provide award-winning beginner fitness programming, lifestyle coaching, holistic nutrition and amazing outdoor adventures that are low-impact, and moderate to high intensity activities. Each trip style has a certified personal trainer assigned for 5 hours per day, to lead guided cardio adventures based on your pace and ability. The day is scheduled Monday to Friday, 9-2pm (team meeting at 8.30) and is suitable for beginner to intermediate levels of fitness. Trainer to client ratio is the best in the business – with no more than 5 guests per biking and hiking tour per staff member. 

NOTE: please allow enough time for a 20-30 minute phone call with Cat before your arrival, so that she can design an amazing fitness schedule (scheduling staff, shuttle, logistics etc) for everyone’s week ahead. Each week we customize the fitness retreat schedule based on how many guests we have, and what their abilities/preferences are.

+ Multi-Sport – The Independent

Whistler Fitness Vacations guides you through an incredible day of fitness adventure, including personal and small group workout classes, alpine hiking (seasonal), forest hiking, and comfort biking around the valley. It’s an incredible adventure vacation with fun, inspired women like you who are dedicated to giving their best each day. Visit spectacular scenery and spot stunning wildlife while getting into the best shape of your life.

This fitness retreat weekly package includes kayak rental one hour per week, bike rental usually 2-3 days in the week depending on group ability, and vehicle transport to the trails when needed. We start and finish each day near the Westin, where you’ll be have opportunity to discuss any modifications to your programming that is required. You’ll enjoy guided cardio adventures for hiking, biking and kayaking with a certified and insured personal trainer, who will keep your intensity safe and results focused.

Weight loss focus may be added onto your stay – click here for details. You’ll be provided a copy of The Planet Friendly Diet in case you want to follow Cat Smiley’s weight loss plan that’s used for her body transformation clients. Life mastery classes are not typically added into The Independent weeks as focus is activity based.

+ Just Biking or Just Hiking

Available as part of The Independent package, both trip styles include 5 hours per day of personal trainer led guided cardio activity with pop-up workouts whenever the moment presents itself. These might include boot camp exercises, restorative stretching, yoga, swimming in the lake or maybe doing some higher intensity intervals. Transportation to the hiking trails is either by courtesy shuttle or walking with your guide. For Just Biking, a rental bike, helmet and lock is included which you can either pick up each day or keep at your lodging. Insurance for your bike is excluded, and you’ll need to allow time on Sunday evening upon arrival to go to the bike store to arrange your rental to be ready for our first meeting on Monday morning.

+ Multi-Sport – The Premium

Includes everything in The Independent package, plus luxury lodging in the upscale Westin Resort and Spa, Whistler. It also includes Life Mastery popup workshops, fitness training sessions and optional (group) weight loss coaching with Cat. Personalized coaching can be added – click here for rates.Guests are responsible for their own food during their stay, with a detailed meal plan and ingredient list provided. Your private guest room has a full kitchen – you can cook each night, get room service, or choose a healthy restaurant in town. Group grocery coordination and support is an integral part of the team experience, with everyone usually getting together to do their grocery shop on Sunday (and trade ingredients or recipes). Guests often get together for meals at night, however this is a personal choice. There’s a wonderful support network of group weight loss in The Premium package, with deep diving coaching sessions facilitated throughout your stay as desired with your team. Cat will ensure that each day of your trip challenges your fitness levels (and keeps you on track with weight loss goals, if this is your focus). Her leadership of your programming usually recommends yoga, massage, steam room sessions, swimming, and/or treadmill workouts outside of the Whistler Fitness Vacations schedule. You’ll be working full-time as an athlete in training during your month long stay, so it’s important to have her expertise. She’ll ensure that you maximize results while staying safe for your physical and emotional abilities. Anyone who focuses full-time on their training needs an experienced coach to oversee everything, however this is especially key when it comes to the aging population, previous injury monitoring, beginner or overweight exercisers.

Allow excluded extras: all meals, food, spa and flight to Vancouver, plus additional tours and adventures not listed in itinerary. The Peak2Peak alpine hiking pass may be required for your stay depending on dates. Return transfer to Whistler from Vancouver airport is excluded with your program package.

    Non-Cancellation, Super Saver

    This rate rewards the kick starters out there who sign up early and help us confirm our retreats in advance of the season (we need minimum 4 participants to run the retreat month). Not only will you receive a complimentary room upgrade, you’ll also get rates lower than 2017.

    How it works is you need to signup with your deposit before Jan 15 and then prepay in full within 3 days of receiving trip confirmation.

    Once paid, this payment is non-refundable if cancelled with no changes permitted. Reservations may not be transferred in any manner to any third party.

    Deposit is refundable only if minimum numbers are not met. By signing up for this rate option you understand that this retreat will confirm when the first 4 refundable deposits are paid. If less than 4 deposits are paid by January 15, 2020, you’ll receive full refund of $995 deposit the next business day.

    This rate is best for those who want to wait until the session is confirmed and have 30 days to coordinate their holiday schedule.

    How it works is you prepay in full within 30 days of receiving trip confirmation. Once paid, this payment is non-refundable if cancelled with no changes permitted. Reservations may not be transferred in any manner to any third party. Deposit is refundable only if minimum numbers are not met. Once we confirm the retreat, either full payment is due within 30 calendar days, or 100% forfeiture of deposit.

    *There’s no minimum number to run The Independent when booked before Jan 15. Once you have booked and paid, it’s confirmed that your trip will run on schedule. After this date, a minimum of 4 people will be required to confirm departure.
