Senior fitness programming
Senior fitness programming is specific. I’ve obtained my Senior Fitness Certification as part of my Master Trainer diploma.
As part of your fitness makeover at my residential weight loss camp, the challenges that older women face are deeply recognized. I fit this into the continued programming of your health and fitness. With a basic understanding of chronic conditions associated with aging, I know how to incorporate exercise for these conditions. My skills in proper technique and assessment are helpful – and sometimes I need to adjust teaching tactics also.
Your senior fitness programming sometimes requires increased focus on specific conditions. Yet all boot campers have their individual ‘things’ we need to work with, so you’ll fit right in! These often include cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, neurological, orthopedic, and sensory conditions.
Rediscover the joy of movement
Cat Smiley Boot Camp is a popular choice for seniors. We’ll help you discover ways to stay active and feel excited about the road ahead in your fitness. We focus on what you can do… not what you can’t. And there are lots that you can do – our fitness boot camp is low impact and designed especially for women whose mind wants to do more than sometimes their body will allow. Most women experience muscle loss after fifty, mostly because they have not been as committed to their strength training and weight-bearing exercise activities as they may have been in their younger years. This leads to lowered metabolism and weight gain.
Younger participants often feel just as restricted in their physical abilities when they sign up. Most wonder what they will do all day. We’ve got the most amazing active schedule for you.
I’m into my second week of a month stay at Cat Smiley’s fitness camp and very pleased with how the program is going. I arrived with goals of losing weight, gaining stamina, and changing some habits. I’ve learned to challenge myself and think outside the box when it comes to fitness training. Cat has been very helpful in teaching me the fundamentals of good workouts, how to progress, and how to continue when I return home. She also is very mindful of our various abilities and will make necessary adjustments to our program so that we get the maximum benefit from our workouts. I’m already feeling stronger and more confident! Thank you Cat! – Rebecca Kosmitis
Increasing the intensity
When you’ve been doing the same workouts for a while, things can get a little boring – even if it gets easier. Adding new exercises to your workout will challenge new muscles, make your heart and lungs work harder and boost fitness.
You’ll achieve impressive weight loss and increased sense of accomplishment as you get into the pattern of pushing your workouts. We’ll use simple tasks such as switching into high intensity for a few minutes as you walk up a hill. The social support and daily humor as part of our daily fitness activities will also keep you inspired!
Discover the difference that training with a Certified Fitness Therapist makes. I’ve got hundreds of hours experience in restorative exercise programming.
Boot Campers with arthritis love my low-impact workouts, especially the hot tub after! It’s important to exercise daily – I’ll show you ways to stay active. This will definitely give you improvement in symptoms. WFV residential fitness boot camp works incredibly well for those suffering from arthritic conditions as weight reduction greatly eases pain.
Women are twice as likely as men to suffer from depression, and it’s no secret that changes in lifestyle can immensely be effective as treatment. Most guests who join our program notice rapid improvement in their moods within a few weeks – and we have lots of emotional support here, with each week bringing in a fantastic team of women!
Exercising daily boosts levels of chemicals in the brain that regulate mood and being outside everyday in the sunlight. Melatonin regulates your sleep and wake cycles and can help your energy. Aerobic exercise is good for your bones, which can help prevent and treat osteoporosis as you approach menopause.
